Reducing Carbon Emissions

07-05-2009

Clarence Valley Kitchens & Shopfitting yesterday announced that they will be reducing carbon emissions by investing in the planting of native trees.

Teaming up with Carbon Neutral Ltd; a Perth based company, Clarence Valley Kitchens & Shopfitting yesterday offset 20 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions.

Company director and program co-ordinator Brad Willis says investing in green initiatives is a moral thing to do for the environment. “Every project we complete over $12,000 will be offset by carbon trading in the form of planting trees.” He explains. “Ultimately, our aim is to offset 100% of our activities in the future, and to set a trend which others in our industry will hopefully follow.”

Clarence Valley Kitchens & Shopfitting will make regular monthly contributions to Carbon Neutral Ltd, which will then plant trees on their behalf. Carbon Neutral Ltd Business Development Executive Mr Chris Doherty is happy that Mr Willis’ company has made the initiative to go green, and will join other companies such as Acer Computers Australia, Rio Tinto, Western Power and the Western Australia Government. “Carbon Neutral is pleased to be able to work with Clarence Valley Kitchens and other organisations that take action to offset greenhouse gas emissions and ultimately contribute to the revegetation of rural Australia.” He said. “Planting native trees to reduce greenhouse gas emissions can also enhance biodiversity, increase habitat and provide a range of ecosystem benefits”.
